Gerberas, powerful and cheerful flowers that are used very often. You might have seen it in different colours. The beautiful colours and playful shape of the gerbera make it fit any occasion. So, the gerbera is always a good idea!

Colours and shapes

Gerberas are available in countless colours. Those vary from orange, yellow to red, purple, white, pink and even multicoloured. But there is an exception… If you find a blue gerbera, you found a rare one because blue gerberas are almost impossible to create. The different shapes of the gerbera are very cheerful: single and double flowered, pom-pom and spider shapes. Have you noticed that when a child draws a flower, it’s always in the shape of a gerbera?

Symbolism of the gerbera

The gerbera has no symbolic meaning, but why should that matter? With its colourful and sunny appearance, it makes any space or occasion more cheerful and welcoming straightaway. Its presence means: you make everything more beautiful!

Gerbera origin

The gerbera is an unscented flower which is part of the Asteraceae or Compositae family. It originates from South Africa, Asia, South America and Tasmania. Some 900 million gerberas a year are produced in the Netherlands with 600 different varieties of colour, shape and size. She’s one popular lady! Did you know a gerbera with a diameter between 6 and 8 cm is called a germini?
