Springtime DIY: Flower Wreath

Springtime brings out the creative side in everyone. All the bright colours and different structures of flowers definitely inspire everyone. At Finnflor we love to share creative ideas for you to use in your flower shop. Since spring is upon us, here’s a springtime ‘do it yourself’: a flower wreath!

Spring flower wreath

A wreath is an assortment of flowers, leaves, fruits, twigs, or various materials that is constructed to form a ring. A flower wreath is one of the oldest, simplest and loveliest loving gestures. Wreaths can be used to hang on a door but also put on the table as table decoration. With different holidays wreaths are a household thing to use as decoration. For example, when it’s Christmas or Midsummer. With Midsummer people make the most beautiful flower crown (wreaths) with flowers. To celebrate spring a wreath filled with spring flowers is essential!

Flower wreath DIY

What you need: Flowers of your choice (for example crocus, daffodils, tulips and roses), oasis wreath or round floral foam, scissors, wire and ribbon.

How to: You start by inserting the bottoms of the crocus, daffodils, tulips or roses in the floral foam, so that you have a base. You can start on the inside or outside of the circle – it doesn’t matter. Once you’ve made your first ring of flowers, take a step back to check your arranging. Are the spring flowers roughly the same distance from one another, and are the colours well matched? When you’re satisfied with the first ring, gradually work from the inside out (or the other way around, if you started on the other side) until the entire wreath is filled with flowers.
