The Flower Trends For Autumn

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” Leaves are starting to change colour and autumn is really here! Like every season, for autumn there are a couple popular flowers and trends. We, at Finnflor, have listed a few of our favourites!

Popular autumn flowers

  • Calla lily: An elegant, simple but also cheerful flower, all in one. The most noticeable aspect of the Calla is the beautifully shaped spathe. This spathe is actually a petal and emerges serenely and majestically from the stem. It’s a kind of wrap that slowly opens up until you can look deep into the heart of the plant. The perfect calla lily for the fall season? The calla offers plenty of choice when it comes to colour. The flower comes in white, red, yellow, pink, purple, orange, green, black and even bi-coloured!
  • Hydrangea: In the second half of the year there are the ‘colour-changed’ flowers. These hydrangeas have a green, red, brown tone. Absolutely perfect colours for autumn and winter. Hydrangeas are definitely eyecatchers. This robust flower can have a diameter of 25 centimetres! The hydrangea comes in many shapes and sizes. Single or double flowered varieties, globe-shaped hydrangeas, hydrangeas with small flowers in the middle and large petals on the edge (edge bloomers) or hydrangeas with a plume shape.
  • Chrysanthemums: During autumn it’s all about warm colours. A ‘golden flower’ that brings warmth and colour with it? Chrysanthemum is it! Originally the chrysanthemum was yellow, but right now the flowers come in an incredibly wide range of colours. Warm gold, bronze and deep orange tones are really trendy, especially this autumn, and also perfect for an autumn bouquet.

Autumn bouquet decoration

Besides the most popular flowers for autumn, this season it’s all about decor. Big, bigger, biggest. So, with your perfect combination of autumn flowers, don’t be afraid for extra decoration. Combine the flowers with small pumpkin picks, rosehip or physalis. Rosehips are essential ingredients in any autumn bouquet. The physalis is a cheerful fruit, wrapped in a natural paper lantern whose glowing colour makes it seem like it’s lit up by a candle.
