It’s almost December, which means Christmas is just around the corner! You might not want to think about it yet, but at Finnflor we are ready to get into the Christmas spirit with some fun flower DIY’s. We have chosen to share three DIY’s, because we think they will immediately boost your Christmas spirit!
#1 Christmas garland with flowers
What you need: amaryllis, lisianthus, orchids, holly, string and cotton yarn, crochet hook and pine cones.
How to: First crochet a chain with loose stitches out of green or red yarn. Then tie strings to all the elements so that you can hang things off them. Then tie some yarn around the pine cones and hang them on the crocheted chain. Start adding the flowers throughout the whole garland and add more when needed. If you are happy with how it looks, the Christmas garland with flowers is finished!
#2 Christmas hydrangea wreath
What you need: Dried hydrangea heads, succulents, berries, pine cones, oasis wreath, scissors, wire and ribbon.
How to: Start by soaking the oasis wreath in water for 10 minutes. Next cut the foliage and berry stems into pieces about 4-inches long with 2cm of bare stem at one end. Working clockwise, start adding the foliage into the oasis at a slight angle, filling the outside edge first before working your way into the middle. Continue until the whole base is covered in greenery. Then trim the succulent skewers so they are just long enough to sit firmly in the base and position at different angles to create a great shape. After that, place the hydrangea between the succulents, securing it in place with wires. To make a pin, simply fold the wire in half and trim the ends so the pin is about 2 inches long. Place the pin directly though the hydrangea head and push into the oasis. Lastly, dot the berries around the wreath in clusters and the Christmas wreath with dried hyndrangea is ready to be displayed!
#3 Christmas tree flower decorations
What you need: Roses (different colours or what fits the Christmas tree theme), branches, a Christmas tree, wire and pliers.
How to: First cut off the rose stems a couple of centimetres beneath the flower. Carefully attach the flowers to the branches with pieces of wire. Distribute them attractively across the entire tree. Insert the branches between the Christmas tree’s branches and the Christmas tree decor is done. This is such a fun way to show customers how to use flowers in a different way.
